The fact that Lin can just toss around huge amount of metal like this is really impressive and highly indicative of the progression of Metalbending. Given we only really saw Metalbending in its formative years in the previous series, but before we only ever saw Toph move large amounts of metal by actively gripping and forcing the metal to move.
This is pure levitation and remote manipulation, and it amazing.

But I think that Hiroshi’s quote about “Not even your mother could bend a metal so pure!” is very interesting! Because we have to remember, they’re not bending the metal but rather the bits of earth inside the metal. To that effect, it must mean the more impure the metal, the easier it is to bend but consequently, the weaker it is.
